Legendary Kumawood actor George Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Paa George, has come out swinging against recurring rumors of his demise.
In a spirited response to social media reports claiming he had passed away, the 88-year-old screen icon assured fans that his “departure date” is already set and it isn’t anytime soon.
Paa George revealed that he isn’t worried about the rumors because he holds a “special contract” with his Creator.
According to the veteran performer, he has a standing covenant with God to live until the age of 96.
”I have a deal with God,” the actor stated. “I asked Him to give me 96 years on this earth.
Not a year more, and certainly not a year less. I am currently 88, so I have exactly seven more years to enjoy my old age and the fruits of my labor.”
The actor, born on May 3, 1937, is set to celebrate his 89th birthday in just a few months.
He remains adamant that until he hits that 96-year milestone, any news of his death is nothing more than “fictional storytelling.”
While he laughed off some of the reports, Paa George took a moment to address those who take pleasure in spreading false news about the deaths of veteran entertainers.
He cautioned the public to be circumspect and mindful of the power of their words.
He warned that wishing death upon others can often “rebound” on the sender.
He urged the youth and bloggers to stop using the lives of veterans as “clickbait” for social media engagement.
Paa George’s career spans over 60 years, beginning in the 1960s during the golden age of the Ghanaian Concert Party.
He successfully transitioned into the Kumawood film industry, becoming a household name for his wit and comedic timing.
Despite his age, he remains sharp and vocal, insisting that he intends to spend his remaining seven years in peace with his family and his wife, whom he often praises for her support.
