The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has been installed as Mmrante3-hene (Youth Chief) of the Sunyani Traditional Area in recognition of his contributions to youth employment in Ghana.
The brief but significant ceremony was led by the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Nana Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, who described the honour as a gesture of appreciation for the agency’s impactful work, particularly in expanding opportunities for young people.
Mr. Basintale, in a Facebook post following the ceremony, expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a humbling moment in his public service journey.
He noted that the honour reflects the collective efforts of the Youth Employment Agency in addressing unemployment challenges across the country.
According to him, the YEA engaged an unprecedented 86,000 beneficiaries last year under various modules, with Sunyani and the Bono Region benefiting significantly from the initiative.
“This recognition motivates us to do even more for the youth of this country,” he stated.
The YEA CEO also indicated that he is currently on a nationwide “touching the base” tour aimed at engaging young people directly, understanding their concerns, and incorporating their inputs into this year’s recruitment plans.
He emphasized the agency’s commitment to ensuring that its programmes remain responsive to the needs of Ghanaian youth, adding that feedback gathered during the tour will play a key role in shaping future employment opportunities.
The conferment of the title is expected to further strengthen collaboration between traditional authorities and state institutions in advancing youth development and empowerment in the Bono Region and beyond.
